Next week is Color Clash week! Each 2nd period Homeroom team is assigned to a different color: either Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, or Purple.
Your team will be assigned points based on how many people dress in their color each day, so start getting your outfits and accessories ready! Also, start brainstorming ideas for a door decorating contest that incorporates your color.
Each day at lunch will be a different event or competition, and homeroom classes will be asked for volunteer participants for some of these – more details to come!
The final school-wide assembly will be in the gym on Friday, April 12 - this is where the contest will really come down to the wire with a variety of challenges. Any team could win, regardless of ranking throughout the week. It’s not over till it’s over!
Please note that we will have an alternate bell schedule all next week to allow for longer lunches.

PLEASE READ: Just a reminder that the solar eclipse is happening today. You should not be looking directly into the sun and you may not wear eclipse glasses on campus, even if they were brought from home. If you do not want to be outside during the eclipse, the library will be open. In addition rooms 8,12, 46, and 21 will be open at brunch and lunch. Rooms 9, 20, 2, and 32 will be open during brunch only. Rooms 39 and 35 will be open at lunch only. Please stay safe!
Please Read: Color Clash week has officially begun! Hope you remembered to dress up in your Homeroom’s color today - each day your second period teacher will record the number of spirit participants, which will count for points towards the winning team.
Prepare for the team song challenge at this Friday’s assembly. The color team that sings and dances along with the most enthusiasm and unity will earn significant points towards winning the overall competition.
Today’s lunchtime challenge is “Rescue the Dragon” on the field. This is similar to Capture the Flag, but with a twist. Each color team will have a section of the field as their territory, with all five colors contained in a pentagon shape. Your task is to run across enemy territory without getting tagged by an opponent, and rescue your stuffed dragon from the base of one of the flag poles. If you get tagged, you must leave the game zone to join the spectators. Some players will need to take this offensive strategy, while other players choose to stay back in their color zone and play defense. If a student makes it inside the “safe zone” ring at the base of their flagpole without getting tagged, they have succeeded. You must then take your rescued dragon to the table set up on the field, where you will turn it in in exchange for an egg. Inside this egg is a clue that relates to tomorrow’s hostage scavenger hunt activity. The winning team that rescues and turns in their dragon first gets the most points, followed by second and third place.
Make sure you have four volunteers from your Homeroom class signed up to participate in this event, and come to cheer on your teammates!

Welcome to the week of the Great Kindness Challenge - This week, all across Cupertino, all across California, all across the United States of America, and all across the world….students are taking the Great Kindness Challenge! The Great Kindness Challenge started 13 years ago with just 3 schools in California and now there are over 20 million students in 40,000 schools and 115 countries participating in The Great Kindness Challenge!
The Great Kindness Challenge? It’s simple! Your period 2 teacher will give you a copy of the kindness checklist. From today until Friday, we challenge YOU and your family to do as many kind acts at school and home as possible. (Kindness Challenge Video) During the Kindness Challenge, a chalk Path of Kindness will be created by students and LMS staff during lunch breaks throughout the week. Kind quotes, wisdom, and drawings to share with fellow students and staff will make up the path. We invite every student to contribute to this path. Let’s inspire each other! Today the path will start at gate 2 and move in the direction of the blacktop.
Homework Center is open Monday-Thursday this week from 3:05-4:05! You must go to the library and stay until the end. Come in and get your work done and some extra help if necessary!
Tuesday January 23, 2024

Be creative and add kind quotes, wisdom, and drawings to share with fellow students and staff. Lawson artists here is an opportunity to create a kindness themed mural with friends or solo. Wear your costume to school tomorrow to earn spirit points for your homeroom class! Remember, No weapons * No full face masks, any oversized props, or other distracting costumes during class time. Students still need to be learning. No excessive fake blood, a little is fine but if it's dripping on the floor it's too much. No overtly violent costumes * Makeup and hair must be done before school (not at school) and all students must abide by school dress code. We always reserve the right to ask students to change if their costumes are inappropriate or too distracting**
Come out to the quad today during lunch time to catch the Advanced Band performing COUNT ROCKULA!!! Look out for some quirky percussion instruments at the back and funny sounds coming from the clarinet section. It is going to be spooky and hilarious - Boo!
The results are in for the Homeroom competition Food Drive! First of all, Leadership would like to thank everyone who brought in a food item. It shows good character to think about others and help them out. Whatever motivated you either the homeroom competition or the plight of others, we appreciate all your hard work. Room 43 is almost completely full of food that will be donated to Sunnyvale Community services. In 5th place was Mr. Montes’s class with 3.03 cans per person. In 4th place, Mrs. Galletta’s class with 3.6 cans per person. In third place, Mrs. Pangilian’s class with 3.84 cans per person. In second place, Ms. Orlando’s class with 4.14 cans per person. Coming in first place is Ms. Younker’s class of only 12 students brought in 162 items, which equals to 13.5 cans per person- the clear winner. This means that Ms. Younker and Ms. Orlando are now tied for first place in Homeroom Competitions with 188 points. Mr. Entous is in third place with 161 points and Ms. Davis is in fourth place with 156 points. Our next homeroom competition is a spirit day tomorrow on Halloween. Earn points for your class by wearing your costume. There is plenty of time to take the lead and get that hundred dollar prize for your class.
